Chariots of Fire – Mr Bean Opening Ceremony London Olympics

Chariots of Fire performed by Mr Bean and the London Symphony at the 2012 London Olympics. The opening Olympics ceremony features the bumbling character Mr Bean performing synthesizer for Chariots of Fire while fantasizing about winning that famous race on the beach in St. Andrews.

Rowan Atkinson, who plays the character “Mr. Bean,” was the highlight of the 2012 London Olympic opening ceremony after he began performing his one note intro on synthesizer while sneezing, texting, and daydreaming his way through “Chariots of Fire.”

In a 3 1/2 minute skit, Mr. Bean begins the performance by playing his single note on the electronic keyboard. After other members of the orchestra start to join in, he quickly becomes bored, and whips out his phone to text and pass some time. At one point, it appears as if he is even taking a picture of the musician next to him.

Next Mr. Bean sneezes and is no longer distracted by his phone, but instead becomes preoccupied by reaching for a tissue while simultaneously playing the same repetitive note on the keyboard.

He first switches hands to reach for a tissue and then magically finds a blue umbrella so he is able to stand up, grab the tissue, and still able to play the note by using the umbrella as an extension of his finger.

After Mr. Bean sits back down and wipes his nose, he no longer is fixated on his dripping nose, so he then proceeds to daydream about running on the beach. Naturally he lags behind the group and wakes up to find the conductor staring at him, as he is still playing the same note and everyone else has stopped.
