Romney campaign spokeswoman Amanda Henneberg said the ad egregiously mis-characterizes the Republican candidate’s position on abortion, noting that in a 2011 National Review op-ed Romney wrote that abortion should be allowed in “instances of rape, incest or to save the life of the mother.”
“It’s no coincidence that a day after a disastrous jobs report, the Obama campaign drops viciously negative and false ads against Gov. Romney desperate to change the subject,” Henneberg said in a statement. “The economy has gone negative on President Obama, so he has decided to go negative on Mitt Romney.”
